According to the tradition, the Gondi descending from the Consorteria dei Filippi, that Dante, in his Divine Comedy, puts in the sixteenth canto of Paradise and counts among the oldest inhabitants of Florence.

The Gondi, actively participated in in public life of Florence since 1197. They were also traders, bankers and farmers. Besides Italy, the Gondi played an important role in France, where they arrived with their bank and then, because of kinship and friendship with De Medici family, helped Catherine and Valois, at the court of Paris, where for two centuries they covered the most senior government posts, military and ecclesiastical.

The Bossi Estate is located 18 km north-east of Florence amidst the wooded hills in the heart of “Chianti Rufina” district that has been producing wines since the Renaissance. Situated at altitudes between 200 and 400 metres above sea level, in it’s 315 hectares that are covered with vineyards, olive groves, woods and grain crops.

The Chianti Rufina, is an area that has always distinguished itself enologically, in fact, the Etruscans in this area had begun to plant the first vineyards.

The current owners are Marchese Bernardo Gondi, who manages the Estate, with his sister Donatella. Their philosophy is dedicated to carrying on the family tradition of producing high quality products while respecting the environment in keeping with the “old ways” that they combine with research on new technologies that help the work and constantly improve the quality.
