The IL CONTE VILLAPRANDONE winery was born in the heart of Piceno, on the hills of the characteristic medieval village of Monteprandone. Here the slopes are caressed by the fragrant breezes of the Adriatic Sea that meet and merge with the mild currents of the Sibillini Mountains.

Conte Villa Prandone was established as a company in 1988, even if Amilcare De Angelis said Lukont was already working in these fields and planted the vineyards in the 60s. In those times the land was not owned by him, but he worked these vineyards as a sharecropper. Later, together with his son Marino, they continued to work the vineyards until 1988 when they decided to buy, with many sacrifices, the vineyards (11 hectares) to which they were fond of and which they had raised and worked for years.

From the beginning until the 90s the production of the fine wines of this company were sold in bulk (at the local market and also to other wineries outside the region). With the arrival of the third generation, it was decided to invest in its own brand and the renovation of the cellars began. They created their own labels, bought other plots and put money into new technologies (barriques, large barrels, bottling, etc.). In 1997 the first bottles were released: in the beginning only 3 Zipolo, Marinus and Navicchio, then gradually they grew and today there are more than 15 labels. The hectares of vineyards are 50 (35 owned and 15 rented).

The current markets of the company are: 35% Italy and 65% abroad (foreign markets as Germany, Switzerland, France, Belgium, Netherlands, UK, Ireland, Sweden, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Albania, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Ukraine, China, Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Australia, USA, Canada).

The vineyards face south with various inclinations (south, south east, south west) and some vineyards face north (north, north east, north west).

The soils are on average calcareous and clayey, in some slopes they have gravelly layers, in some sandy, rich in iron, quartz and minerals.

When the vineyards were planted, the right soils and slopes were chosen for each type of vineyard (e.g. Pecorino fresh soil north exposure, Montepulciano south exposure, Merlot north exposure with very clayey soil, Passerina on gravelly soil with southern exposure east to favor sea breezes etc..).

The vineyards are grown with the utmost care and are equipped with an emergency irrigation system (which is used in summers that are too dry).

The cellars are underground (7 meters underground) to have an ideal climate for the aging of the wines, with a constant natural temperature (12-20 degrees), humidity around 60% and dark, sheltered from light reflections.
